Lagniappe Healthcare recently announced that the nursing facility was awarded a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
"The administration and staff at Lagniappe have worked very hard to achieve this rating and are proud to have maintained the five-star rating every month since May 2015," a provided release states.
The Five-Star Quality Rating System was created by CMS to help families, caregivers and consumers compare nursing homes. This is important because nursing homes can vary in the quality of care and the types of services that they provide. The rating system looks at the facilities' health inspections and surveys and then combines information from the last three years with the most recent year findings receiving a greater weight than the previous two years. Other factors considered include the staffing of the nursing home, staffing of nurses and certified nurse aids are the targeted areas, and quality measures, which provides information about how well a nursing home is caring for both the physical and clinical needs of patients.
Amanda Boatright, Lagniappe Administrator, stated she feels this is the most important part of the rating. She also stated she received an email from the Louisiana Nursing Home Association congratulating Lagniappe and the staff for reaching the five-star level.
“The staff at LNHA want to extend our sincere congratulations for progressing from a Four Star Facility to a Five Star Facility," KarenSue Zoeller, Regulator Director, LNHA, said in the email. "This is an indication of the hard work carried out by you and your staff to provide the kind of quality care that your residents require and expect. We know that this achievement takes dedication and commitment. As CMS continues to emphasize the need for continuous improvement, you and your staff have shown that you are quite capable of meeting their standards. Again, congratulations from all of us."
“Lagniappe Healthcare takes great pride in knowing we have been recognized for all of the hard work and quality care we give to our residents on a daily basis," Boatright said. "Our residents are happy and it shows. Lagniappe is home to our residents, and we want their home to be the very best. We welcome family involvement, churches, and if you are not familiar with us, please come by and take a tour."
