This week in Crime Stoppers news, the Bastrop Police Department is seeking leads from the community related to two different crimes, one the armed robbery of a worker in a bucket truck and the other the burglary of a West Madison business.
According to Captain Anthony Evans, on August 3, the BPD received a report that an armed robbery had occurred at the intersection of Corky Avenue and Pleasant Avenue. In this case, the victim was a technician working on a pole while elevated in a bucket truck. An unknown black male wearing a bandana that covered his face and head robbed the worker at gunpoint. Initially the suspect demanded the worker throw down his wallet, but when he found out no wallet was available, he demanded the victim's cell phone. The suspect then shot in the air twice as he ran away from the scene.
The BPD is also looking for leads related to a break-in this week at the West Madison Dollar General location. A suspect broke the glass on the front door to gain entry to the store. This suspect is described as a light-skinned black male with a high-top fade cut — his face was obscured from identification by a bandana.
Anyone with information on these cases or any other case may contact Crime Stoppers at 281.0050, the Bastrop Police Department at 281.1322 or the Morehouse Parish Sheriff 's Office at 281.4141. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in felony cases.
