Riverfield 19, Claiborne 0

Having its way in Boyd Cole's debut as head coach, Riverfield romped to a 19-0 victory over Claiborne Academy in the opener of the five-game Prairie View Jamboree on Friday night.

Starting the 15-minute contest on offense (there were no kickoffs or punts in the jamboree), the Raiders marched 70 yards on eight plays.

Converting on third-and-eight Brennan Morris bounced around the right edge for 37 yards and a first down at the 14, leading to Clay Savage's six-yard plunge on fourth-and-two. The PAT went wide right, but Riverfield was up 6-0 just 1:06 into the game.

Following an empty possession by the Rebels, Riverfield set up at its own 40.

Savage's 33-yard burst around the left edge pushed the Raiders into Claiborne territory before Tristan Oswald found Marc Simmons on a 26-yard touchdown strike on the fourth play of the series. Cody Hixon's extra point extended the Raiders' lead to 13-0 with 7:40 to play.

Claiborne's second possession was derailed by a holding penalty.

Riverfield then drove 51 yards on nine plays.

Morris' 26-yard reception on fourth-and-10 from the Riverfield 49 kept the drive alive, setting up Savage's nine-yard jaunt on a pitch to the left side with 49 seconds remaining.

Tucker Smith's 20-yard pickup gave Claiborne its only first down but the damage had been done.

Riverfield rolled up 179 yards (127 rushing, 52 passing) of total offense while limiting the Rebels to 22 yards, all on the ground.

Savage accounted for 70 yards and a pair of touchdowns on seven carries while Morris added a 37-yard run and a 26-yard reception. Oswald was 2-for-3 passing for 52 yards.
