  • Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Office makes drug arrest

  • On Wednesday, July 23, investigators from the Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Office obtained information about a John Brown Jr., who had active warrants.
    According to Sheriff Mike Tubbs, deputies located Brown and he was stopped at the corner of Highway 139 — the Old Monroe Road — and Dowd Road. and taken into custody.
    After Brown was stopped, deputies began to search the vehicle, which also contained three passengers: Brittany Hampton, Randle Williams and a six month old child who was asleep at the time of the stop.
    During the search, Tubbs said that deputies located digital scales, marijuana and other drug paraphernalia in and about the car. Pills that appeared to be Xanax were also identified.
    Tubbs said that as the search continued it was determined that an attempt to destroy items was made.
    Brown, Hampton and Williams were arrested and transported to the Morehouse Parish jail where they were booked on the following charges:
    John Brown Jr. was booked on charges of possession of schedule IV with intent to distribute, conspiracy, no driver's license, cruelty to a juvenile, possession of schedule I second offense, possession of drug paraphernalia and warrants for the distribution of schedule IV and distribution of schedule IV.
    Brittany Hampton was booked on charges of possession of schedule IV with intent to distribute, conspiracy, obstruction of justice, cruelty to a juvenile, possession of schedule I and possession of drug paraphernalia
    Randle Williams was booked on possession of drug paraphernalia.
