  • Bastrop Police Department: Crime Stoppers seeks leads in homicide

  • On the evening of Sunday, July 13 at approximately 10:20 p.m., a man was shot and killed on E. Jefferson in Bastrop right next to the Morehouse Parish Library. The victim was 49 year old Jimmy Lee Davis of Bastrop. Davis was pronounced dead on-the-scene, and his name was released to the Enterprise after notification of his next-of-kin.
    According to Captain Anthony Evans of the Bastrop Police Department, Davis was shot with a handgun.
    Crime Stoppers needs the help of the public to identify the suspect in this crime. Two people witnessed the crime and were able to provide the BPD with a description of the suspect.
    The suspect is a black male with dark skin between the age of 19 and 20. He is approximately five-feet six-inches tall to five-feet seven-inches tall and is described as having a muscular build.
    The suspect is also described as having a high-low haircut, which means his hair is higher in the front and on top and then shorter at the bottom and the back.
    Anyone with any information regarding the suspects whereabouts may call Crime Stoppers at 281.0050; the Bastrop Police Department at 281.1322. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in felony cases.
