  • Agents with the Northeast Louisiana Drug Enforcement Bureau arrested 10 individuals in Morehouse Parish on drug charges on July 1 and 2.
According to Brian Shoemaker, Chief Criminal Deputy with the Morehouse Parish Sheriff Department, these types of arrests are the result of a street level patrol where suspicious activity is looked for by agents.
For example, in one of the arrests, officers were patrolling West Madison and observed a group of people in the parking lot of Club X-Clusive, including one person who threw a bottle. As the NLDEB agents investigated, they located and identified two medium-sized bags containing suspected marijuana and a clear plastic bag containing suspected cocaine as well as drug paraphernalia.
In a separate arrest, agents were behind a vehicle that was driving east on Van Avenue and went left of the center line. The driver then failed to stop at an intersection and a stop sign. After the vehicle was stopped, agents observed a pistol in the vehicle. As the pistol was examined, it was noted that the serial number had been removed. The pistol was recovered and both of the vehicle's occupants — Deventavious Wilson and Quintavious Dantzler — were charged with possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number. Each also faces separate solo charges.
All persons arrested by the NLDEB on Tuesday and Wednesday have been booked into the Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Office jail.
A full list of arrests, including the NLDEB drug arrests, appears on page 3 of today's paper.
