CANEY LAKE — Bass are beginning to school and chase shad. Best lures are shad imitations such as the Rat-L-Trap. The crappie have moved deep around submerged tops in 15-20 foot water with some hitting shiners and jigs. Bream fishing is fair to good fishing worms and crickets on the beds in 4-6 foot water. CHENIERE LAKE — Bream are on the beds and hitting worms, crickets and popping bugs. Crappie are slow to fair. Bass are best on topwaters and spinners fished around trees and brush. Call the Honey Hole at 323.8707 for more information.
LAKE CLAIBORNE — Stripers are beginning to school and hitting shad imitations with some caught trolling white bucktails. Bream fishing is fair. Crappie are better at night around the lights with some caught during the days around deep brush on shiners and jigs. Bass are best on spinners fished along the banks or fished around the lighted piers at night. LAKE D’ARBONNE — Bass fishing is best on the current points on crank baits and Rat-L-Traps. Crappie are in the deep sloughs suspended 7-8 feet above tops in 15-20 foot water.
