A Bastrop man, Michael W. Scott Jr., is in the Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Office jail and charged with attempted second degree murder after an incident earlier this week.

According to Bastrop Police Chief Downey Black, at a little after four on June 16, the Bastrop Police Department received a call from a resident on West Hickory that advised they were shot at.

The caller identified the shooter as Scott.

After the police department obtained a warrant, Scott was arrested on June 17 by Detective Eric Newnum, Captain Steven Rawls and Captain Anthony Evans and booked on charges of attempted second degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
