Anna's Lollipop Lane is a new business serving the child care needs of Bastrop.
Andrea Martin has been operating a daycare service from her home for the last 12 years, and, back in February, she was given the opportunity to take over ownership of the child care service located at 1732 E. Madison, which she then renamed Anna's Lollipop Lane.
Martin said what she loves most about her work is getting to spend time with children.
“I've done this for a long time,” Martin said. “I was only able to have one child, and I like that [for my job] I get to be with children and work with them.”
Martin said there are some things that are less fun about the job, like paperwork and cleaning, but that wouldn't stop her from doing what she loves. She said that she feels that things are doing well so far with the business.
“Our business is going great, and I have some great employees and teachers,” Martin said. “We hope that our business continues to grow and be successful. We just want it to be a great place for children to come, be taken care of and feel loved in a great atmosphere.”
Martin also had some words of wisdom for anyone else looking into opening their own business.
“If its something they feel like they're led to do, they need to go for it and make their dreams come true,” Martin said.
