On Tuesday May 20, a drive-by shooting occurred on Pruett Street in Bastrop.

According to Assistant Chief of Police Bubba McDuffie, two people were throwing a football in the street when a truck drove by them. The driver passed by once before turning around and driving back toward the players.

When the truck passed by again, shots were fired from the vehicle. The two football players were not injured in the shooting.

On May 22, two men were arrested on charges of assault by drive-by shooting. Morgan Edmonds, age 18, was charged with both assault by drive-by shooting and conspiracy. Roderick Paige, age 19, was charged with assault by drive-by-shooting, conspiracy and aggravated battery.

The men were booked into the Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Office jail and are awaiting bond.
