  • Bastrop will be represented in four events at Saturday's Louisiana High School Athletic Association/State Farm Class 4A Track & Field Meet on Saturday at LSU.
    Isaiah Graham, Trevious Crossley, Jamari Payne and Ch'kilas Calhoun won the 4 x 100-meter and 4 x 200m relays to highlight the Rams' performance in the Region I-4A Meet at Benton High School on Wednesday, April 30.
    Antwone Green and Xavier Latting are the Rams' alternates in the 4 x100m, while Green and Orlando Walker are alternates in the 4 x 200m.
    Bastrop is the No. 4 seed in the 4 x 200m behind LaGrange, Morgan City and Northside.
    LaGrange is regarded as the team to beat after Kevin White, Deonté Goodly, Markell Thomas and Martell Hawthorne posted a 1:28.41 readout in the Regional. Morgan City is a close second after receiving a time of 1:28.48 from Jaylen Jones, Tierell Jones, Keyvon Marsh and Buddy Humphrey.
    Bastrop is the No. 6 seed in the 4 x 100m with a time of 42.96.
    Edna Karr's foursome of Desmond Holmes, Kaylon Beverly, Robinson Najeé and Glenn Irons is the No. 1 seed in the 4 x 100m.
    Bastrop's qualifiers in the field are Johnnie Marsaw in the shot put and Christian Doaty in the javelin.
    Marsaw is the No. 3 seed in the shot put after finishing second to Fair Park's Andriquez Barnum at Regional. Barnum uncorked a throw of 44-04.50 last week, while Marsaw turned in a distance of 45-08.25. Louis Blanchard of South Terrebonne is the No. 2 seed at 44-05.50.
    Doaty is the No. 8 seed in the javelin (142-00).
    Demarcus Haynes was the Rams' lone state qualifier last year, making the medal stand with a third-place result in the 3200m.
