  • Instead of sitting on the couch, come by the Visitor Center Thursday evening to watch a western and partake of free food.
“For a Few Dollars More,” the second movie in the spaghetti western “A Man with No Name” series, will be shown at the Visitor Center at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 15. The movie, which was directed by Sergio Leone and stars Clint Eastwood, is part of a series of spaghetti westerns that is being shown thanks to a partnership between the Morehouse Parish Library and the Visitor Center.
This is the third movie they have shown that is part of the spaghetti western genre. The movie is a sequel to “A Fistful of Dollars,” which was the first spaghetti western shown at the Visitor Center. In addition to the free movie showing, refreshments will also be available for those attending the showing.
Spaghetti western is a sub-genre of western films which is primarily Italian produced westerns, but sometimes Italian-Spanish. They came about after American western imports decreased in the early 1960's. Italian filmmakers decided to make their own westerns and take advantage of the market. These films would adopt a unique style that was more violent than traditional westerns, with morality less clear cut and a commonplace ending to kill off principle characters by the end.
Next month on June 19, the third movie in the The Man with No Name series, “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly,” will be shown to conclude the trilogy.
