  • Two arrested on drug charges

  • On the morning of May 5, the Bastrop Police Department arrested two individuals on multiple charges of drug possession after they were pulled over for suspicious behavior while operating a motor vehicle.
    According to BPD chief Downey Black, BPD Officer Dennis Aswell saw a vehicle turn off of East Carter Street onto Mockingbird Lane, turn off its lights and pull into a private residence. Officer Aswell was familiar with the home and knew the car did not ordinarily belong there.
    He then contacted the car and reportedly saw the suspects toss multiple objects under the vehicle. Once the objects were retrieved, the police department found suspected marijuana, suspected methamphetamines, suspected pills and suspected drug paraphernalia.
    The occupants of the vehicle were then placed under arrest. After their arrest, more suspected methamphetamines and other items were discovered.
    Suspect Anna M. Boyte, age 29, of 303 Bonner St. was charged with suspended driver's license, criminal trespass, possession of schedule 1 drugs with intent to distribute, possession of schedule 2 drugs, possession of schedule 2 drugs with intent to distribute, possession of schedule 4 drugs, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
    Suspect Heath A. Fife, age 24, of 173 Hill Rd. in Collinston was charged with criminal trespass, possession of schedule 1 drugs with intent to distribute, possession of schedule 2 drugs, possession of schedule 2 drugs with intent to distribute, possession of schedule 4 drugs, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
    Both suspects were booked at the Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Office jail.
