Region I-4A Meet

Coming off of a strong performance in the District 2-4A Meet, the Bastrop Rams' track and field team will compete in the Region I-4A Meet at Benton High School. Field events get under way Wednesday at 11 a.m., with the running events scheduled to start early in the afternoon.

The top three finishers in each event move on to the State Meet at LSU on Saturday, May 10.

Bastrop won six events in the District Meet, while finishing second to West Ouachita in the team standings.

The Rams' foursome of Isaiah Graham, Trevious Crossley, Jamari Payne and Ch'kilas Calhoun won the 4 x 100-meter and the 4 x 200m relay with times of 42.44 and 1:28.19.

Winning district titles in individual events for the Rams were Graham in the 100m (11.15), Johnnie Marsaw in the shot put (46-10.05), Rodney Jackson in the discus (117-05.50) and Christian Doaty in the javelin (152-01).

Marsaw and Jackson both qualified for Regional in the shot and discus. Rounding out the Rams' qualifiers in the field events is Josh Doaty in the triple jump.

Quanterrious Hutchinson advanced to regional in the 1600m and 3200m, while Xavier Latting will represent the Rams in the 110m and 300m hurdles.

Along with Graham in the 100m, Bastrop will be represented in the sprints by Crossley in the 100m, Payne in the 200m and Calhoun in the 400m.

Bastrop qualified in all three relays as Devin Brown, Graham, Atwone Green and Calhoun placed second in the 4 x 400m at district.

Northwood's Kwaume McGee is the favorite in the high jump after clearing 6-10 to tie a state record last week.

Dorsavian Williams won the 100m and 200m while helping Benton win the District 1-4A championship.

North DeSoto's Christian Boyd swept the hurdles in the 1-4A Meet.
