  • Four-plus inches of rain over the weekend, followed by more rainfall Tuesday has led to an extended weekend for the parish's three baseball and softball teams.
Bastrop High's softball game at Rayville was postponed Monday as was Tuesday's home game against District 2-4A rival Franklin Parish. The Lady Rams will try again Thursday at home vs. West Ouachita. Game times are 5 p.m. for varsity, with the junior varsity game to follow.
Bastrop's baseball game has also had two games rained out this week, a home encounter vs. Alexandria Senior High and a road contest at Ouachita.
Coming off of a three-game sweep over Franklin Parish, the Rams resume district play against Neville on Thursday. Game 1 of the series is set for 6 p.m. Thursday at Baron Ballpark, Game 2 is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Monroe's Embanato Field, with the series finale to be played at Baron on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Riverfield and Prairie View are hoping the third time proves to be the charm as their baseball double header has been rained out twice. Originally scheduled for March 28, Tuesday's makeup games were also rained out. The two teams will try again on either Thursday or Saturday. Prairie View's seniors will be recognized prior to the game.
Prairie View remained in the playoff chase by winning two of three games against MAIS District 3-2A leader Glenbrook last week. Traveling to Minden on Friday, the Spartans lost the opener of a double header against Glenbrook 11-1, before winning the series finale 7-6.
