Beekman School's 100th Year Celebration is slated for April 12, with a day filled with activities for all ages including carnival events, a basketball tournament and an evening concert. It will begin with a Inaugural Tiger Trek 5K and Easter egg hunt.
Both the 5H and the Easter egg hunt will be held at Chemin-A-Haut State Park.
Times for the 5K are:
Late registration, 7 a.m. – 7:45 a.m.
Check-in/Packet pick-up, 7 a.m. – 8:15 a.m.
5K, 8:30 a.m.
Awards Ceremony, 10 a.m.
The entry fee is $15 for Beekman Charter School Students and $25 for other participants.
The Easter egg hunt will be held at 10:30 a.m., with three age groups (0-4, 5-7 and 8-12) each hunting in separate areas of the park.
A $2 fee per person is required by Chemin-A-Haut park for admission to the park.
At the school, The Beekman Booster Club will operate a concession stand, with hamburgers, nachos and other concession items beginning at noon. There will also be spirit shirts, hoodies and other items for sale.
A carnival will be held from 12:30 p.m. until 3 p.m. in front of the school, on the boardwalk and in the little gym. The cost for carnival admission is $5.
The basketball tournament is slated from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m., with the Student Council organizing teams for the sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth grades. The faculty as well as alumni will also have teams in the tournament.
At 6:30 p.m. a BCS reception will be held in the little gym to honor former principals and teachers and at 7 p.m. a band will perform beside the softball field, with crawfish being sold.
