A memorial benefit for Danny Ray Turnbow will be held April 12 at the Morehouse Activity Center.

Money raised from the event will go to help the Turnbow family.

“Danny Ray was just a real good fella',” Mike Fife, one of the event organizers said. “Everybody liked him. He was hardworking. We just want to help the family and have this serve as a memorial for him.”

The benefit will have a live auction, which will be made up of all donated items including tools and gift certificates among other things.

In addition to the auction, another main event will be the live band consisting of several locals who all at some point played in different bands. They are former members of bands such as The Suspects, Sassifrass and Ambush. Those performing at the event include Billy Shepherd, Tony Berry, Bill Blackwell, Paul Torbert, Billy Bennett and Danny Solomon.

“Everyone is invited,” Fife said. “It's going to be a good time.”

There will be bleacher seating but attendees are welcome to bring a lawn chair if they prefer. Concessions will be available for purchase.

Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. Auction will begin at 7 p.m. Band will start playing 8 p.m. Advance tickets are $10 and can be purchased at C&K Nursery and Silver Spur. Tickets will be $15 the day of the show.

“We appreciate everything that everyone has done in helping out,” Carol Turnbow, Danny Ray Turnbow's widow said. “On behalf of myself, my sons, Jeffery and Casey, and the rest of the family, we appreciate everyone taking the time and putting this together for us. We'd like to thank Wayne Florence, Mike Fife, Billy Shepherd and the band for all the work they put into putting this together for us and everybody who has pitched in and helped.”
