Art students at Prairie View Academy recently took part in the school's Fine Art Survey Contest.

Each student in the Fine Art I and II classes chose two of their best art pieces of graphic pencil, acrylic paint, pastels, watercolor and mixed media for the contest, which was judged by an accredited art graduate from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. The pieces were displayed throughout the school for both students' and parents' perusal.

"These students have shown incredible talent in their drawing, painting and watercolor skills," Art Teacher Debra Kendrick said. "We are very proud of all of the art students and congratulate them for capturing the spirit of art and creativity this year."

Students in the contest are in the 10th, 11th and 12th grades and winners received a ribbon for their creative ability. Also, two students' work was chosen as Best of Show. First place winners were Sheridan May, Brooklyn Rea, Samantha Halberg and Dalton Carpenter. Second place winners were Chris Peltzer, Tessa Boykin, Samantha Halberg and Brooklyn Rea. Third place winners were Cole Bryan, Nolan Whorton, Hunter Green and Morgan Grayson. Best of Show winners were Nolan Whorton and Bryar Goyne.
