  • Bastrop Police Department seeks leads in arson

  • The Bastrop Police Department is seeking information regarding an apparent arson.
    BPD Chief Downey Black said the Bastrop Fire Department was called to a house fire on Leavell Street in the early morning hours of March 15. It was determined the fire was intentionally set and an investigation is underway.
    The Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Office is also looking for information into two separate thefts.
    A 4-wheeler was reported stolen on March 22 from a residence on Coulee Swamp Road in Collinston. The homeowner said the ATV was sitting in the front yard on March 21 and she noticed it was gone the next day. The 2003 green Honda Recon 650 is valued at $4,000. The 4-wheeler had mud tines, a winch and basket racks on both the front and rear. There is also two pink deer head stickers on the vehicle and their is a rip in the seat.
    A home break-in on Willis Drive was reported March 23. Items reported missing were a Playstation 4 with numerous games, an Xbox One with numerous games, a Dell laptop computer, a Winchester 12 gauge shotgun and a Playstation 3 with numerous games.
    Anyone with any information regarding these offenses may call Crime Stoppers at 281.0050; the Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Office at 281.4141 or the Bastrop Police Department at 281.1322. Crimestoppers will pay up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in felony cases.
