Three men were arrested Thursday night by the North La. Drug Enforcement Bureau on drug charges.
The NLDEB was conducting an undercover narcotic investigation on E. Madison when they made contact with Timmy Williams, 9721 Mason Rd. After advising Williams of his rights, it was discovered that he was in possession of suspected marijuana. He was also in possession of drug paraphernalia. Williams was arrested for both possession charges as well as second offense possession of marijuana.
Also during the undercover operation, agents attempted to stop a vehicle which was used during a suspected drug deal. As they pulled up, the driver, later identified as Travis S. Smith, 1413 Perry St., reversed the suspect vehicle, backing into a police unit. Smith then fled his vehicle and was apprehended after resisting the officers by fighting. Upon his capture, agents located a large bag of suspected crack cocaine. A passenger in the vehicle, identified as Lee George, 620 Forrest St., was taken into custody without incident and agents located a bag of suspected marijuana on his person. A search of the vehicle revealed a handgun, a set of digital scales and several plastic bags.
Smith was charged with distribution of schedule II narcotic (crack), aggravated assault with a motor vehicle on a police officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, conspiracy to distribute schedule II narcotics, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm while in control of a controlled dangerous substance. He was also charged with resisting an officer to the extreme and two counts of battery of a police officer.
George was arrested on charges of distribution of schedule II narcotic (crack), possession of drug paraphernalia, conspiracy to distribute schedule II narcotics, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm while in control of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of marijuana, second offense.
All three men were transported to the Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Jail where they await the setting of bonds.
