At Thursday night's city council meeting, Cindy Haynes of Hill and Inzina presented the 2012-2013 Audit Report.
In her report, she explained that the city has run on a 10 million dollar budget for many years. The total general fund revenue for the year which ended June 30 was $11, 281, 277 and the city's expenditures totaled $10, 479, 100. Despite IP being closed down, the sales tax has remained consistent and even seen a slight increase.
Mayor Arthur Jones announced that ethics training will be offered at 11:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. Jan. 30. All public employees and elected officials must take one hour of training per calendar year on the Code of Governmental Ethics pursuant to LA R.S.42:1170A . Elected officials are additionally required to receive one hour of training per term of office on the Campaign Finance Disclosure Acts according to the Louisiana Board of Ethics. Training may also be taken online at eap.ethics.la.gov/EthicsTraining.
The council voted to approve previous minutes and approve the finance committee report which contained the bills and claims for the month of December 2013.
No action was taken on the sale of surplus property located at South Marcus and West Hickory because there were not any bid received.
There were no new applicants for liquor licenses.
