Investigators with the Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Office have shut down a ring of vehicle burglars.
Sheriff Mike Tubbs confirmed Friday that several arrests have been made in connection with three rashes of vehicle burglaries which occurred in December in the Cleveland Street, Shelton Road and Arrowhead areas. The arrests stem from a call the MPSO received in the early morning hours of new year's eve regarding a burglary in process of a structure on Virginia Street.
Deputies and officers with the Bastrop Police Department responded to the call and were able to apprehend Deon Givens, 1304 Needham and Fredrick Bloodsaw, 1816 Bush St., Alexandria. Other suspects were able to leave the scene before they could be apprehended.
Lt. Libby Brixey and Sgt. Kim Lowden continued the investigation into the break-in and further information resulted in the arrest of Justin Fields, 1304 Montgomery, as well as determined the trio was responsible for the numerous vehicle break-ins.
Fields has been charged with a total of eight counts of simple burglary of a vehicle and conspiracy; Givens has been charged with three counts of simple burglary of a vehicle as well as unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and resisting an officer; Bloodsaw has been charged with one count of simple burglary of a vehicle, one count of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, resisting an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia. All three suspects remain in the Morehouse Parish jail awaiting bond and more arrests in the case are pending.
