  • The Bastrop Police Department is looking for information regarding an armed robbery that happened Dec. 21. Police chief Downey Black said employees from a business on the Mer Rouge Road were held up as they were leaving work Saturday night by two suspects dressed in dark clothing and wearing Halloween masks. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun. They suspects took various personal items from the employees as well as some of the store's receipts. The duo was last seen running eastward toward Mer Rouge. A ne’er do well or group of ne’er do wells, perhaps looking for last minute stocking stuffers, burglarized six vehicles on Monday. Maj. Rose Worley with the Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Department said four vehicles off the Crossett Road and two in the Shelton Road area were found to have been burglarized Tuesday morning. Missing from the vehicles were cash, guns and electronics. “People probably get tired of hearing us say this, but even when they are at home it’s always best not to leave items in the passenger compartment of their cars, regardless of what time of year it is,” Worley said. Anyone with any information regarding the robbery, break-ins or any felony may contact Crimestoppers at 281.0050; the Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Office at 281.4141 or the Bastrop Police Department at 281.1322. Also, anyone with any information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects shown on page 2, may call Crimestoppers with that information. Crimestoppers will pay up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in felony cases.
