11 Vinton Lions were voted onto the 2013 4-2A All-District team led by a pair of double first team players in juniors Anfernee Dixon and James McMillon.

11 Vinton Lions were voted onto the 2013 4-2A All-District team led by a pair of double first team players in juniors Anfernee Dixon and James McMillon.

Dixon earned first team honors as a wide receiver and defensive back while McMillon took first team honors as the athlete position and as kick returner.

Dixon led the Lions in receiving with 37 catches for 694 yards and 11 touchdowns. On defense he had 55 tackles and 15 interceptions. He also returned one punt and one interception for a touchdown.

McMillon didn’t become a starter at tailback until Week 8 but he made the most of his time. McMillon finished with 821 yards on 113 carries and 10 touchdowns. He returned a kickoff 81 yards for a touchdown and also had a pick-six on defense.

Senior Blake Trahan earned first team honors as an offensive lineman and second team as a defensive lineman. On defense, Trahan had 60 tackles, five tackles for a loss, recovered two fumbles and returned an interception for a touchdown.

Freshman Darrius Allen started every game on the offensive line for the Lions this year to earn second team honors.

Junior quarterback Tanner Guidry improved his touchdown to interception ratio this year earning second team honors. He completed 76-of-158 passes for 1,202 yards, 17 touchdowns and just eight interceptions. Last year as a sophomore he had 10 touchdowns to 13 interceptions.

Senior Anthone Hillery (23 rec. 353 yards, 4TDs) was named to the second team as a wide receiver while junior James Blanchard earned second team honors as a linebacker (58 tackles, 5 TFL, 1 sack) and junior Elijah Broussard was named the second-team place kicker.

Seniors linebackers Tim Planchard (35 tackles, 6 TFL, 2 sacks) and Ryan Breaux

(75 tackles, 6 TFL, 6 sacks) and junior offensive/ defensive lineman Cameron Simpson were named to the all-district honorable mention team.

District and state champion Kinder swept the top honors in the district. Quarterback Austin Pickle (50 101-7, 843yds, 13TDs/79 car., 421yds, 13TDs) was named offense MVP, Bryce Baker (111 tackles, 2 TFL, 2 sacks) earned defensive MVP honors while Bret Fuselier was named district coach of the year.
