While the hustle and bustle of holiday activities is in full swing, often times those suffering from life-altering medical conditions are forgotten.

During this Christmas season, the students of Prairie View Academy are trying to make sure that the children in Saint Jude have something under the tree. Through Dec. 17, students are participating in a Coin Star Challenge in which they are asked to gather loose change, take it to the Coin Star machine in either Super 1 or WalMart and bring a portion of the cash redeemed to school. All monies collected will then be turned into gift cards which will be sent to the Saint Jude representative for disbursement among families in need.

"While we will all have a good Christmas, we - both the staff and students - want to make sure that those who are not able to be home for the holidays have some Christmas cheer," Hope Bunch, teacher at PVA said. Saint Jude's is especially important to us, as we have had students and students' family members treated there."

Each class will be entered into a drawing, with the winning class receiving a pizza party sponsored by a local businessman.

Anyone interested in bringing a donation may do so by bringing to the school office.
