  • In the early morning hours of April 9, 2006, Paul and Tammy Crockett of Bastrop received news that no parent ever wants to hear. Awakened by a knock at the door, the couple was told their 21 year old daughter had been killed in an automobile accident.
Holli Crockett had been traveling home with her fiancé, Jeremy West when West lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree. Holli was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck and West was transported to Morehouse General Hospital before being arrested on a charge of vehicular homicide. West later pled guilty to the charge and was handed down a 20 year sentence.
Holli's mom worked tirelessly with the attorneys as well as Ann Shocklee, the Victim Services Specialist with Mothers Against Drunk Driving and on Tuesday placed an ornament featuring a picture of Holli on a special Christmas Tree located at the Louisiana State Police Troop F headquarters.
This year marks the fourth consecutive year that Troop F has displayed a Christmas tree to serve as a remembrance for those who have lost their lives due to impaired driving. Families of victims were invited to attend a ceremony at the Troop F building as well as hang a picture of their loved one who had their life cut short by drunk driving. In addition, those who have been injured by a drunk driver were welcome to hang a picture on the tree as well.
"All too often, those who are injured yet survive drunk driving crashes are overlooked," Trooper Albert Paxton said. "This is a way to honor and remember all drunken driving victims during the holidays and serves as a reminder to everyone that drunk driving destroys lives."
The tree will remain on display in the lobby until early 2014. Those who are not able to make it Tuesday may come by Troop F any day until the end of the year to hang a picture. If pictures are not available, family members will be able to write the names of victims on ornaments provided by Troop F. Family members may also mail pictures to be hung to the following address:
