BLACK BAYOU — Bass fishing has been fair fishing plastic worms or lizards. Crappie are fair on shiners or jigs. For latest information, contact the Honey Hole at 323.8707.
CANEY LAKE — Some bass are still schooling and hitting topwater shad imitations when they’re up and soft plastics when they’re down. Bass to 8 pounds have been caught fishing the deep points with crank baits. The crappie fishing is gradually improving with most catches made fishing jigs or shiners around brush in 20 foot water. CHENIERE LAKE — The lake is down 3 feet. Bass continue to be fair on topwater lures while crappie fishing is slow to fair on jigs or shiners. Call the Honey Hole at 323.8707 for more information.
LAKE CLAIBORNE — The crappie bite continues to improve fishing shiners and jigs around submerged tops in 16-18 foot water. A good many smaller bass are being caught on Watermelon Red colored Baby Brush Hogs fairly shallow. Some are also hitting the Shaky Head in 10-15 foot water. LAKE D’ARBONNE — Crappie fishing is improving daily fishing 8-12 feet deep in 16-20 foot water in the channel. Bobby Garland Blue Thunder, Blue Grass, Popsicle jigs along with #180 Black Lake Hair jigs are picking up some nice fish. Some bass are still schooling and hitting topwater lures. Some nice chinquapins are being caught off the banks on red wigglers and catfish are going for cold worms also fished off the banks. OUACHITA RIVER — Crappie fishing has been fair fishing shiners or jigs around the submerged tops in the river and up the bayou. Bass are best fishing around the stumps off the deep water steep banks on crank baits. For current information, call the Honey Hole at 323.8707.
LAKE POVERTY POINT — Crappie fishing is off and on with best catches made around the marina on the Bobby Garland Red Thunder, Monkey Milk, Blue Grass, Popsicle and Yellow Jacket jigs. Catfishing is good fishing shrimp or blood and cheese bait off the back deck at the marina. Some bass to 5 pounds have been reported. For latest reports, call Poverty Point Marina at 318.878.0101.
