Local Cub Scout Pack 323-Bastrop is assisting local Crisis Ministries with making sure everyone has something to eat for Thanksgiving. Nov. 2 through 9, the Cub Scouts will be collecting food for Scouting for Food. There are three phases this year in their efforts.
Phase one consists of the traditional passing out empty bags on Nov. 2 and taking up full bags on Nov. 9. Be aware that Cubs along with their parents will be out in local neighborhoods.
Phase two will be coordinated by Becky Wilkerson and she will be contacting local churches in the area as early as today to see if they can get each church to take five to 10 bags and fill them up so she and her team can pick them up and take them to the local Crisis Assistance Ministry. For more information, contact Wilkerson at 281.6673 or 282.2124
For phase three , each den in the Pack including Tigers, Wolves, Bears and Webelos will in a challenge to see which den can bring in the most food to help others.
“Some of our Core values we instill in our boys are citizenship, compassion and responsibility,” Committee Chair Debra Hinson said. “By giving of themselves in helping others these values can be learned. I want to personally thank you for helping us reach so many.”
