CANEY LAKE — Bass continue to school as they feed on shad near the surface. Shad imitation lures are picking up some fish up top while deep diving crank baits and tail spinners work best when they go down. CHENIERE LAKE — The lake is down 3 feet. Bass are fair on topwater lures. Crappie fishing is off and on. Some days they bite fairly well; other days they're hard to find. Call the Honey Hole at 323-8707 for more information.
LAKE CLAIBORNE — Crappie fishing is improving with best catches made around the deep tops fishing jigs 12-15 feet deep. Some good bass catches have been reported around the grass on plastic frogs and Chug Bugs while Shaky Heads are picking up some fish around the deeper tops. LAKE D'ARBONNE — The crappie bite is improving with some good catches made fishing jigs or shiners along the channel edges, especially up Corney Creek. Catfish are biting cold worms in fairly deep water. Bass are fair on soft plastics and jigs fished around trees along the channel drops. Bream have slowed this week. LAKE POVERTY POINT — The crappie bite is slowly but steadily improving, especially around the boat slips at the marina.
