A Morehouse Parish man is listed in critical condition after being shot Monday afternoon.
The Bastrop Police Department received a call at 3:20 p.m. Monday regarding a wrecked vehicle on North Marable at Pine Street. When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered that the driver was unresponsive due to a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was transported to Morehouse General Hospital via ambulance and later transported to Glenwood Regional Medical Center.

Witnesses identified two local men, Elijahwan Johnson, 171 Trichel Lane, Monroe and Jaquaious Bennett as being involved in the shooting, which occurred in the vicinity of North Marable and Van Avenue. Detectives began searching the area for the two men but were unable to locate them. On Tuesday, Det. Eric Newnum obtained warrants for attempted second degree murder and conspiracy for both suspects and at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Johnson was taken into custody. At press time, the search for Bennett was continuing.
