CANEY LAKE — The water is still warm enough for bass to continue to school. Shad imitation lures are working on surface-feeding bass while tail spinners are picking up some beneath the surface. Crappie fishing is fair on shiners or jigs around the deep tops in 15-20 foot water. Chinquapins are slow to fair with a few caught on the bottom on cold worms. LAKE CLAIBORNE — Bass are fair fishing topwater lures and Shaky Heads with a few in the 3-4 pound range caught. Crappie are gradually improving fishing jigs around the deep tops. Catfishing is good on rods and reels using cold worms or night crawlers for bait. Striper fishing is good when they are feeding on top. Shad imitation lures are working best. fishing is fair with some caught on spinners and soft plastics around the grass in the creeks. LAKE D'ARBONNE — Crappie fishing is slowly improving fishing around grass up the creeks on shiners or jigs. Bass fishing has been fair in breaking schools and fishing topwater lures and Wobbleheads around the grass. Bream and catfish continue to bite cold worms fished on the flats. LAKE POVERTY POINT — Crappie fishing is slowly improving around the boat slips as well as the cut-offs on the south end of the lake. The new Bobby Garland Yellow Jacket jig seems to be working best.
