  • Funeral services for Betty Jo Hayter are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, September 30, 2013 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. The Rev. Ron Lowe will officiate the services. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery of Bastrop under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.
    The family will receive friends beginning at 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday, September 29th at Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop.
    Betty Jo was born July 14, 1935 in Bastrop to the late Olen Andrew Stewart, Sr. and Emma Rhodella McNeece Stewart. She passed away on September 25, 2013 in Monroe. Preceding her in death are her parents; her husbands, William V. Hughes and Rev. Sydney J. Hayter; and a brother, Rev. James Ronald Stewart.
    Ms. Betty was a graduate of Rhema Bible College in Broken Arrow, Okla. and a Full Gospel minister. She enjoyed life and people and was active in her ministry until the day she passed away. Ms. Betty traveled the globe as a missionary. She shared the gospel throughout Asia and on every air base around the world where her husband was deployed. Her joy was in serving and ministering to others the grace and love of Christ. She was always full of the spirit of God and and lived her life according to her testimony, "Let go and let God." She was a blessing to many.
    Ms. Betty is survived by her son, Paul Hughes and his wife, Marla; a granddaughter, Shaina Hughes; two great-grandchildren, Mikel Haskins and Kenny Bates, III; two step-daughters, Barbara Olsen and Donna Hemborge; a brother, Olen A. Stewart, Jr.; three sisters, Hilda White, Vanessa Stewart and Delois Stewart Austin; numerous loving nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends.
