  • Leads sought in local thefts

  • Investigators with the Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Department are working several thefts and are looking for information regarding merchandise taken and those responsible.
    On Sept. 10, a complaint was received regarding the theft of a 1998 Croswell 14 x 6 black utility trailer from a business on Hwy. 139.
    On Sept. 15, a complaint was received regarding the theft of a car battery from a residence off of the Cherry Ridge Rd. The victim stated that the hood of their vehicle had been opened and the battery stolen out of the it. Also missing was a yellow and black toolbox, a 4-way lug, an electric engraver, jumper cables and various wrenches.
    On Sept. 16, a complaint was received regarding the theft of several pieces of equipment from a business on US Hwy. 165. The complainant stated the business had been broken into and a Stihl weed eater valued at $100, a Stihl hedge trimmer valued at $150, two Stihl chainsaws valued at $150 and $350 and a Cub Cadet zero turn lawnmower valued at $2,500 had been taken.
    Also on Sept. 16, a Stihl chainsaw valued at $170 was reported stolen from a shed at a residence on the Norman Harper Road.
    Anyone with any information regarding these thefts or any felony may contact Crimestoppers at 281.0050; the Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Office at 281.4141 or the Bastrop Police Department at 281.1322. Also, anyone with any information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects shown on page 2, may call Crimestoppers with that information. Crimestoppers will pay up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in felony cases.
