  • Dave Chappelle still knows how to stir up controversy.
The stand-up was headlining the Funny or Die Presents: The Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival on Thursday night in Connecticut when he was heckled by several audience members and refused to perform his set, according to the Associated Press.
According to fan accounts, Chappelle came out and told a few jokes but stopped because of the heckling. Videos posted online afterwards show that the former Comedy Central star then sat on a stool for almost 30 minutes and responded to the hecklers, joked about the situation and went so far as to read the first few sentences of an audience member's book.

"Hey man, I wanted to do a better show, too," Chappelle said, apparently responding to a person in the audience. "It wasn't my fault. Quite noisy in here."
"I like some of you. I hate some of you," he said just before he left the stage. "I forgive some of you but I don't forgive all of you. You guys have totally ruined my chances for running for Congress or something. ... Thank you. Good night."

Chappelle, 40, was booed when he walked off stage, and some fans demanded their money back from the show.
This is hardly the first time Chappelle has taken a stand against hecklers. In 2011, he stopped performing at a charity event in Florida and proceeded to check his text messages while on stage. He said in a radio interview that he once lay on the stage for 10 minutes during a performance in Oakland, Calif.
The Oddball festival, which also includes Flight of the Conchords, was set to play Pittsburgh on Friday.
