A Morehouse Parish prisoner faces new charges after leaving his work-release post Saturday night. Sheriff Mike Tubbs said Department of Corrections Work Release inmate Christopher T. Danley, 6444 Daley Rd., Collinston, left his job assignment in the early morning hours of Aug. 24. The jail staff as well as investigators were notified of his unauthorized leave and as the investigators began gathering information, another complaint was received at the MPSO This complaint was regarding the theft of a 1993 Villager van. The van was later found abandoned on East Madison Ave and information led Lt. Scott Culp and Inv. Rebecca Wallace to West Carroll Parish, where with the assistance of the West Carroll Sheriff's Office and the Oak Grove Police Department, Danley was located at a residence on Morgan Road. He was taken into custody and transported back to the Parish jail and arrested on the charges of simple escape and unauthorized use of vehicle. Danley was originally in jail for theft and minor drug charges and was due to be released in December of this year. On Sunday, Corp. Della Heckford was patrolling North Washington when she witnessed a vehicular accident. As she was responding, one of the vehicles left the scene and Heckford began a pursuit. Ignoring all attempts to stop, the driver of the vehicle continued to head west and struck a second vehicle at Larche Lane and Van Avenue. The driver finally brought the vehicle to a stop at Huey Street and upon exiting, fled on foot. Dy. Robert Tappin Jr. pursued the suspect for a brief foot chase, and was able to apprehend Michael Henderson, 43, after a physical altercation. Henderson was charged with resisting by flight, resisting an officer and battery of an officer. More charges may be pending, as there were children in the vehicle at the time of the pursuit.
