A graveside service for Annie Maurice Turner Smith Jeffers, 79, of Marshall, Texas, formerly of Sterlington, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Dean Cemetery, Marion with Bro. Roger Johnson officiating. Mrs. Jeffers passed away August 20, 2013 at her residence. Arrangements are with Downs Funeral Home, Marshall, Texas. Mrs. Jeffers was born January 7, 1934 in Dean, to Gordon Liberty and Lucile Martin Turner. She graduated from Linville High School, Southern State College and Northeast Louisiana University. Mrs. Jeffers taught Kindergarten at A.L. Smith Elementary School, Sterlington and retired from Ouachita Parish School System in 2007. She was a member of Bonita Road Baptist Church, Bastrop. Mrs. Jeffers is survived by her daughter, Donna Lynn Smith Ormond of Panola, Texas and family, son-in-law, Eddie Ormond of Panola, Texas, grandsons, Lance Smith Ormond of Panola, Texas, Luke Martin Ormond and wife and Hollie Fugler Ormond of Greenwood, great-granddaughter, McKynsie Grace Ormond of Greenwood; daughter Carolyn Maurice Smith Hodgkins and husband Charles Hodgkins of Monroe; daughter, Kimberly Leigh Jeffers Howland and family of Springfield, Mo., grandsons, John Michael Howland and Joseph Anthony Howland, granddaughters, Lauren Elizabeth Howland and Landry Kaye Howland; brother, Kenneth Turner of Dean; nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Jeffers was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Lucile Turner; brothers, James, G.L. and Arvie Turner; and her first husband, Walter Newton Smith.
