Funeral services for Sheila Diane Ford, 64, of Mer Rouge will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 21 2013, at Mer Rouge Baptist Church with Bro. Ron Vollmar officiating. Interment will follow at the Mer Rouge Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Cox Funeral Home in Bastrop. .
Diane was born September 19, 1948 and passed away Monday, August 19, 2013 at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer. She was of the Baptist faith. Diane married her high school sweetheart, Howell Ford, and they celebrated 45 years of marriage this past March. She and her husband have been the owners of the Country Cream in Mer Rouge for 37 years.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Audrey McCollum, brother-in-law Joe Ford and nephew Damian Fontenot.
She is survived by her husband, Howell Ford of Mer Rouge, son Michael Ford of Bastrop, daughter Lee Ford of Mer Rouge and mother-in-law Joyce Ford of Mer Rouge. Also surviving her are her sisters Sharon Borden and husband Harvey of Leesburg, Florida and Peggy Gerald and husband Richard of Bastrop; sisters and brother-in-laws Joyce Powell and husband Rodney of Bastrop, Judy Fontenot of Pineville, Mickey Ford and wife Dianne of Farmerville, Susan McHenry and husband Mac of Katy, Texas and Dorothy Ford of Bastrop. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins that she dearly loved.
For those that were blessed to be a part of Diane's life knew the gracious, kind, gentle and loving woman she was. They knew she was a woman who spoke no harsh words against anyone, who found good in everyone and offered encouragement, praise and kind words. A loving wife, mother, daughter-in-law, sister, sister-in-law and aunt, Diane will be remembered for the extraordinary example she set as to how we should live our lives, for her smile and laughter, but most of all for the love she had for her family. Heaven has indeed received an angel.
Pallbearers will be Alan Fontenot, Austin Fontenot, Kevin Lincecum, Ted Parker, Newton Gray and Kenny Jones.
