“We have been pondering this concept for quite some time,” WC Chamber Special Events Coordinator Adam Holland said. “Other communities our size and smaller have hosted events similar to this which have had a tremendous economic impact for their community, we are excited about the potential this event has.”
It is the goal of the Chamber to engage individuals living on La. Hwy 2 from Beouf River to the Bayou Macon and have at least one rummage sale every mile or so on this stretch of roadway. Those who wish to participate who do not have homes on Hwy 2 are encouraged to register and set up on the courthouse square, where the grounds will be set up in festival fashion.
If you are interested in participating in this event and live west of Oak Grove on Hwy 2, contact Tammy Stutts at 282.3533; for those who live east of Oak Grove on Hwy 2 contact Janeal Jones at 428.4701 and for those who live in the city limits contact Linda Alexander at 428.4767.
Those who do not live on La. Hwy 2 and wish to set up at the Courthouse Contact Event Director Adam Holland at 282.6938 or the theatre at 428.8289.
There will be a fee of $10 to participate at your private residence or $15 at the courthouse, which will offset the cost of balloons marking your property as well as radio and newspaper advertising for the event. Maps marking each participating location will also be distributed to local businesses and will be given out to the guests, guiding them to all locations.
