A Bastrop man could face the death penalty following an arrest of aggravated rape.

Officers with the Bastrop Police Department began investigating allegations of sexual relations between Stacy Bailey, 35, 1310 Van St., and a juvenile under the age of 13 in late July. Officers contacted Bailey on Aug. 1 and placed him in custody on the count of aggravated rape. Bailey was transported to the Police Department for questioning before being placed in the Morehouse Parish jail, where he will be held without bail. Bailey will appear before a 4th Judicial District Judge early next week to have his bail set. If convicted on the charge he could face the death penalty due to the victim's age, or a life sentence at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence.
