  • Two Delta Jr. High students recently participated in the National Junior Olympics in Greensboro, NC. White and Nautica Caldwell, the daughters of Frankie and Gloria Harris, were able to compete in the track and field events after competing and advancing in a series of preliminary events as well as Association and Regional events. They were two of over 8,500 other youth competing on the initial levels and this National event marks their first experience competing on that level. White competed in the 13 - 14 age group in the 1500 meter dash and Caldwell competed in the 11 - 12 year old age group in the 80 meter hurdles. Harris, who is also their coach, said the girls were also able to meet and talk with Sports Illustrated's Greatest Female Athlete of the 20th Century, Jackie Joyner-Kerse, who is a six-time Olympic medalist and World Record holder in track. The duo are part of the Massey Miracle Track Club in Monroe.
