Graveside services for Anna Raye Holley will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Bonne Idee Cemetery in Mer Rouge.

Anna Raye Smith Holley, Los Angeles, Calif., left her earthly body to begin eternal life with her Lord and Savior on July 6, 2013. Anna was born in Gallion November 9, 1932. Her unending faith in God carried her through many triumphs and trials in life, but she inspired many as she worked in the ministry with her husband in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Hawaii. Anna earned her Master’s Degree in English from the University of Hawaii in 1965 and taught in public schools in Arkansas and Louisiana for 25 years. Her passion for educating children in literature, especially Shakespeare, was exceeded only by her devotion to God and family. She will be greatly missed by her two daughters, five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and their families. She is survived by daughters Rebecca Ann Holley Voinche and husband, Donald, and Deborah June Holley Lewis and husband, John; five grandchildren – Laura Poche’, Jill Bellows, Jon Caviness, Ian Lewis and Robert Lewis, and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Mabel Hayes and Catherine Thomas, brothers Francis, Howard, Billy and Newton Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Holley, parents Newton Smith and Pauline Deville Smith, brother, Earl Smith and sister, Doylene Jones.
