  • The church has been holding the annual Youth Quake since 1985. There is no charge for those wishing to attend, but the church does accept offerings. Many churches come from out of town to attend. Those who come from out of town get a chance to see Bastrop and the local kids are encouraged to be good hosts. “We fill up all the restaurants,” secretary for the church Sandra Goleman said. “While here, they stay, eat and shop in Bastrop. I think it really helps boost our local economy in addition to the spiritual benefits.” This year, services started Wednesday night and were held day and night Thursday and Friday. The theme was “Break Every Chain.” They had speakers as well as baseball/softball tournaments. Wednesday night speaker was Bastrop United Pentecostal Church's Pastor Dwight Fulton. Day speaker was Travis Houston. Night speaker was Cortt Chavis. “It started out with power packed miracles already performed and young people already saved,” Pastor Dwight Fulton said. “The Holy Ghost has fallen like it did in Acts 2:38.” “Our goal is that they can get something from this experience and bring it back to their church and community,” Goleman said.
