The New Llano Water System has issued a boil advisory for its customers effective immediately, due to a loss of water pressure Tuesday morning after the town experienced a problem with the water supply system.
The boil advisory is in effect until otherwise rescinded by the town of New Llano.
All consumers are recommended to disinfect their water before consuming it (including fountain drinks), making ice, brushing teeth, or using it for food preparation or rinsing of foods.
The town recommends that customers boil water for one full minute in a clean container. The one minute starts when the water has been brought to a rolling boil (the flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle, pouring it from one clean container to another, or by adding a small pinch of salt to each quart or water that is boiled).
The boil advisory will be rescinded upon notification from the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals that additional water sample from the water supply system have shown the water to be safe.
