An additional charge has been added to the Bastrop man accused of kidnapping his girlfriend on July 4.

Stacey Matthews, 6192 Van Buren Rd., is accused of holding his girlfriend against her will and hitting her numerous times. She was able to leave the residence after Matthews went to sleep and flee to a local department store, where she called for help. After locating Matthews, he was placed under arrest for aggravated battery and aggravated kidnapping and transported to the Morehouse Parish Jail, where he rained on bonds of $20,000 for kidnapping and $10,000 for battery. Further investigation into the allegations revealed that Matthews had also allegedly forcibly raped the victim and a warrant on those charges was issued. He was arrested at the MPSO jail, where we will continue to be housed before appearing before a judge on Monday for a bond amount. If Matthews is convicted on the kidnapping charge, he faces life imprisonment at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence. If convicted on the forcible rape charge, he faces up to 40 years in prison.
