Administrator and Director of Nursing Suzanne Smith said the facility, which has been open for three weeks, does more than just work with the children.
"We also educate the caregivers about what is going on with their child," Smith said. "our goal is to maximize the growth of each patient by working with the caregiver and the child's doctor.
"We saw a great need in the Bastrop area and felt like we could provide a service here," Smith continued. "Anything a medically fragile child needs, we can provide."
The center is the sixth one to open in Louisiana and the second to pass inspection without any deficiencies.
