Louisiana State Police Superintendent Colonel Mike Edmonson believes troopers should be a part of their communities, not apart from them. The mission of the Louisiana State Police is to ensure the safety and security of the people in the state through enforcement, education and other essential public safety services.
In an effort to promote public safety education and enhance relations with the communities served, Louisiana State Police Troop F has partnered with other public safety agencies by hosting the Sixth Annual Public Safety Expo at the Monroe Civic Center from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. July 13. There will be informational booths, displays and demonstrations from many different public safety agencies. This event is free to everyone and will be an opportunity for the public to meet with public safety-related organizations about their roles in northeast Louisiana’s safety. The event will include seat belt safety (full-size roll-over demos), fire safety, bicycle safety, 911 system, boating safety, K-9 units, motorcycle units, mobile command units, boats, impaired driving demos (Fatal Vision goggles), bomb units, traffic enforcement, helicopters (police and medical), EMS units, SWAT demos, free car seat checks and other demonstrations from numerous agencies. In conjunction with the Public Safety Expo, for the first time this year, there will also be a 5k run to raise money for St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. All of the proceeds from the race will be given to St. Jude. The 5k will begin at 8 a.m. on the morning of the Expo and start and end at the Monroe Civic Center.
