Two people were seriously injured in a crash Saturday morning involving a vehicle and a motorcycle near Pickering.
The crash happened at approximately 12:30 a.m. Saturday, the Louisiana State Police report, when Douglas Coker, 47, of Leesville, was driving a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle south on U.S. 171 when he attempted to make a left-hand turn onto La. 10. Coker collided with a vehicle driven by Marcel Elkoubi, 67, of Leesville, who was traveling north on U.S. 171.
Both Coker and a passenger, Linda Coker, 46, also of Leesville, were wearing helmets, but both were ejected. Douglas Coker was transported to Fort Polk for medical treatment with severe injuries, and Linda Coker was transported to Beauregard Memorial Hospital in serious condition, state police report.
Elkoubi was wearing his seatbelt; state police say he received minor injuries, but refused medical treatment.
Routine toxicology tests and charges are pending; the crash remains under investigation.
