Mississippi State University UCA Camp

Attending the University Cheerleaders Association camp at Mississippi State University earlier this month, the Sterlington High cheerleaders earned a number of awards.

Sterlington's varsity cheer squad awards included:

Blue (superior) ribbons for evaluations on Day 2 and Day 3.

The Spirit Stick on all four days of camp.

Allison Willard won a Superior ribbon for the “Minute to Win It” contest at the spirit pep rally.

Taylor Ross received two “Pin It Forward” pins from cheerleaders from other squads attending camp.

Allison Willard and Emily Wohlers received UCA All-American cheerleader awards.

Miranda Ross received the Captain award.

The varsity squad received a Superior rating overall camp trophy.

Received a superior rating for home pom routine.

In cheer competitions, competing in the Small Varsity division, the squad was awarded trophies for:

Second place, extreme dance.

First place, sideline chant.

Second place, game day cheer.

First place overall champion, game day competition.

Shalonda Coleman is the SHS varsity cheerleader sponsor. Karly Hubbard is the squad's coach.

Sterlington's junior varsity squad was recognized for:

Red (excellent) ribbons for evaluations on Day 2 and Day 3.

Received the spirit stick all four days of camp.

Received the superior overall trophy at camp.

Lauren Latham received a pin for participating in the UCA All-American competition.

Sponsor for the JV cheerleaders is Suzette Moore.

Kelsi Scott, Purvis the Panther, won the following awards:

Received the spirit stick all four days of camp.

Received the red ribbon on Day 2 evaluations.

Received the blue ribbon on Day 3 evaluations.

Received the UCA All-American mascot award.

Third place overall trophy out of nine contestants in the mascot competition.
