The Morehouse Parish Police Jury had its regular monthly meeting on Monday.
Ordinance 1350 to remove a section of Bayou Drive was discussed and passed without opposition

The section of the road in question will no longer be on the records for Morehouse Parish maintenance. It will now be a part of the present landowner's property and must be maintained by them.

Millage rates for 2013 will remain the same, with the general fund staying at 4.44 mills.

The jury approved an election in the 8th Ward Fire Protection District No.1, which will be placed on the Oct. 19 ballot. The election is for a 1.94 mills tax renewal for that district.

New occupational licenses were granted to Big Daddy's Converters and Recycling (Charles Brantley, owner) and Souther Charm (Beverly Word, owner). Renewals were granted to Affordable Landscaping, Custom Cut Lawn Care, Gregory Steel and Nature's Hideaway.

Margaret Stokes received approval to purchase a new computer for the Health Unit and jurors decided to take bids to sell the old health unit in Bonita. A minim bid was set at $2,000.

They approved a $100 salary supplement for Registrar of Voters Sandra Thomas.

They also approved the purchase of a router for the Registrar's office.
