A Bastrop man is jailed after an altercation early Saturday morning.
The Bastrop Police Department received a complaint at 2:04 a.m. June 8 following the shooting of a victim.
Three men were at a local after-hours club when they got into an altercation with another man. The three left the club together and were traveling toward Bastrop on Madison Avenue. As they passed the intersection of Madison and Kammel, a second vehicle passed them and turned onto Pearl Street. The driver of the second vehicle then allegedly got out of his vehicle and opened fire on the victim's vehicle. Shots went through the rear glass and struck the back seat passenger. The victims drove to Morehouse General Hospital, where the passenger was treated and transported to a hospital in Shreveport, where he is in critical condition.
Investigation into the shooting identified the alleged shooter as Shaquille Brantley, 19, 622 E. Cypress. Brantley was located later in the morning of June 8 and charged with three counts of attempted second degree homicide and possession of firearm by convicted felon. He was placed in the Morehouse Parish Jail and will have bond set today by a judge.
